Sarah Tweet on Muscles, Mindfulness Work,
Where We Put Our Energy, and Learning How to Disappoint People

I am joined on today's episode by weight lifter, mom, musician, mad crocheter, queen of the quirk, candy-at-Christmas-maker, vocal coach (am I missing anything?!), Sarah Tweet. Sarah is truly a wonder of passion and inspiration, and we had the most enlightening conversation about mindfulness work and taking care of your physical health. We talk about exploring who we are without associations of 'good' or 'bad,' enjoying the process of getting older, and making micro adjustments in our mindsets to make big changes in our lives. You'll learn a bit about Sarah's take on how being praised for what you do can turn into an addiction rather than an aligned part of who you are, and while we're at it, we'll dig into evaluating where we put our energy.

It's a good one.

About Our Guest

Born and raised in a small town in Washington State in the foothills of Mt. Rainier, Sarah Tweet is a Pacific Northwest Gal through and through. Growing up in a homeschooling family on 20 acres as the youngest of 4 siblings, Sarah had plenty of time and space to listen to her creativity and follow her heart.

Sarah began studying classical piano at age 7. She knew from a very young age that her life would involve singing and making music. Through her teens, Sarah played keys and sang for her youth worship band at church. At age 16, she auditioned for her college vocal jazz ensemble and made the cut. That is where she truly fell in love with all things singing-related.

Her musical influence developed at a very young age as she and her siblings would listen to her parents’ vinyl collection in the attic. Elvis, Johnny Cash, John Denver, ABBA were her earliest memories of music.

She became very interested in soul, gospel and Jazz music as a teen. Some of her favorite singers were Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Crystal Lewis, and Ella Fitzgerald.

Sarah began coaching singers at the young age of 20. Teaching, performing, and writing music has always been a major focus throughout her life. After teaching and training at several different music schools over the past 25 years, Sarah now owns and operates her own vocal coaching studio— Tweet Voice Studio in Gig Harbor, WA—and performs professionally with Seattle’s premier Motown inspired vocal trio, The Jewel Tones

She continues to write, record, and release music with her husband Ben as an independent artist. Sarah is the proud mother of 3 very creative children: Ash (23), Juliana (21), and Reuben (14).

She has been married to the love of her life, Ben, for 25 years. Her hobbies include weightlifting, fitness, crocheting, paddle boarding, horses, and snuggling her Dalmatian pup.
